    To kick-off this forum I would like to show you a conversion I did some time ago.

    I am actually not a big fan of Big Big Train conversions but at that time I was busy upgrading some 0-gauge wagons and steam loco’s. At that point I had an open wagon lying around that had a damaged body floor.

    That gave me the idea to add a realistic coal load and try to alter the appearance of that wagon.

    Here are some pictures of the result:

    Compared to the original:

    RV285 conversion And on a piece of Peco 0-gauge track:

    RV285 conversion I was pleased with it 🙂

    Hi Dave,

    Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but that weathering looks great! Like you I wouldn’t in most cases want to modify the appearance of an original wagon, but that is done very sympathetically. That said, I do like Richard’s Big Big Rainbow Express!

    Thanks Edward. If I remember correctly I took some grinded gravel that was very fine and applied that on the paint to get the corroded effect.
    And I do agree, the Big Big Rainbow Express is awsome!
