This is a bit of a long shot.
Our local live steam club is hosting an 0-gauge demonstration on its next running day on Saturday 2nd March 2024. A local collector of old trains offered to put up a small layout in our clubroom for the benefit of the local children who come to ride our trains. Now it seems that several of our members also have early 20th century steam, clockwork and 3-rail electric 0-gauge and examples will also appear on the day. I expect that there will be one or two items of BigBigTrain rolling stock.
As I said, this is a long shot, but in the unlikely event that any BigBig operators are living on or passing through the NSW Central Coast this would be an opportunity to meet other operators of BigBig and other vintage 0-gauge. You might be able to watch our plastic cars being hauled by a pre-war Hornby steam outline electric loco, and vice-versa. I shall bring some match trucks.
If they let me I would like to display part of the history of 0-gauge toys by setting up a circuit where trains travel around a circuit over tinplate, wooden railway, Plarail, BigBig railway, OS railway, and maybe modern supermarket plastic Lionel track. I have already made all the necessary track adapters. I have found that Hornby wheels run through BigBig points. Same with many other toys, but not all modern fine-scale models.
Anyway, we are in Showground Road, Narara, NSW Australia.
Our club website is at http://dazed.org/narara/index.htm but it doesn’t mention small-gauge trains, yet.
