ParticipantHi
New to this forum. I’m a collector of 40 years and I’m still missing 2 or 3 items.
The Brown Gondola wagon. I will get one one day.
The Letter carrying caboose one day.
Was the 0-6-0T ever produced in Yellow like the Novo box suggests?
Many other rare items people might know of?
Cheers Tim

ParticipantHi there, from all I have seen, been told, read, searched-for, etc, I am pretty sure that the yellow 0-6-0 tank was never made.
Regards, Mike,

KeymasterHi, I am curious which Novo box pictures a yellow 0-6-0. I wasn’t aware of it but I agree with Mike. I think it was never produced.
Regards,
Dave

ParticipantIt was on the box of the Jungle train set. I was bought this set in the early 80’s. I have been collecting ever since. Now in 2019 I have a collection that is massive and well that’s not my wife exact words say when every time she opens a cupboard or looks under the spare beds and finds another box!

KeymasterAh I see what you mean. That is a set made by Novo in the USSR. I thought it was on one of the Rovex-Triang sets made in the UK.
The picture on the box suggests that there has been at least one 🙂
Those days Photoshop wasn’t an option so I suppose it is genuine. I have never seen one for sure but it might exist in this color.
Cheers, Dave

ParticipantI’ve thought about finding someone with a 3D printer.

KeymasterHi Tim,
Probably having a 3D printer is not all. The skills to do 3D designing to convert parts into printable data might be even more important. Shapeways can do your printing then.
For any Big Big Train enthusiast it is good to have a look at Vincent’s Shapeways designer shop. I posted about hime some time ago. He is that guy that has the 3D design skills and is a Big Big Train fan.
Cheers,
Dave

ParticipantHello, a question along the lines of the fabled yellow 0-6-0 and apologies if someone has already asked this one, but did they ever make yellow trucks as on the front of the goods train set? It also look like there may be an orangy/caramel coloured tipper wagon in the picture.

KeymasterHi Richard,
I suppose you mean the yellow open wagon directly behind the loco.
I have these from Lima. They produced these in yellow for sure.
Not sure if i have these from Rovex or Novo. Will have a look.
I think at some point at Rovex they produced items with whatever color plastic (pellets?) they had available. That makes that there are several odd colors and even shades of colors in which items were made.
Cheers, Dave

ParticipantI bought a couple of Red Rocket sets when they came out. They were about half the price of the real thing. Unlike the track in the box in the photo above, all the track was black. Later I discovered that it lasted much longer outside than the official Rovex red track which became white and brittle in the Sydney sun. The engine itself seemed to be more fragile than the original.
I had a few yellow trucks but painted some of them matt black to resemble dirty NSWGR ‘S” trucks.

ParticipantI’ve since managed to get hold of a Mighty Red Rocket set of my own and all my track is a dark blue, but I have as you say got one single piece of black track that came in a mixed bag I got off Ebay at some point.
I’ve seen it written that these sets were commissioned by an Australian department store, but it didn’t give a name. I don’t suppose you would remember the name of the store yours came from?
Regards,
Richard
